The best logos are simple logos. Think about those that you can easily remember; the ones that are most recognizable and come to mind quickly. Older well designed logos include McDonald's arches, the Nike checkmark and the NBC Peacock. Newer logos might include the interesting color combination in the text of Google, the unusual look of the Sony Wii double "i"s, and Apple's famous apple.
Why do these large companies with lots of money have simple logos? |
|---|
They know all the places where a logo will be used and how difficult it can be to reproduce it for all the different uses and still have it look great.
Logos are not just printed on paper in full color where it's easy to reproduce. You will find logos in black and white in the newspaper, in one color on promotional products and embroidered on shirts where details are difficult to reproduce. Logos must be engraved, sand etched, screen printed and produced in very large sizes on banners and signs. They also must be made to work well in very low resolution on computer screens (such as on the Internet).
We understand the implications of a poorly designed logo. Do you want to continue spending money to have your logo tweaked" for every use? Most local designers don't understand all the ways your logo will be used. A web designer thinks of the Internet. A printer thinks of paper. We've thought of them all. We understand a logo is your brand. It's how everyone will recognize you. It must be immediately recognizable and easy to recall...yes, it must be memorable!
