Award & Recognition Wording Resources

Today, I added a web page to help you with wording when you are deciding what you want to say on an award, memorial, retirement recognition or recognition of volunteers, sponsors, etc. Although I'm not in favor of lots of text, sometimes a quote, bible verse, or favorite saying by the individual receiving the recognition adds to the expression you are trying to make. So I added links to 6 quote sites. Based on how you would go about searching for a quote or how they organize them in their web site, you may find your favorite web site. Try them all to see which ones work best for you. I primarily use one web site for bible verses, but I will be adding more in the future.

The translation web site is often useful. If you want to give a personalized gift to a visiting dignitary from another country, Free Translation comes in very handy. It is also useful in checking the spelling of foreign language words.

I love Wikipedia. It's an encyclopedia and much, much more. I also find it's a great source of quality graphics. I use it to for better understanding an organization, looking up military ranks, proper spelling of names of countries and cities and for dozens of other things that comes up when designing an award.

A graphic (besides a company logo) can highlight the purpose of the award or represent the recipients favorite things in life. A special graphic called an ornament (and by several other names) is often used to add emphasis to the recipient's name or to the title of the award.

I'll be adding more resources for you as I discover them. In the meantime, check out our wording Tools web page.
